Within the framework of the launch of the “Goes-T” Satellite, from the facilities of the US space agency (NASA, for its acronym in English) in Cape Canaveral, Florida (USA), the Mexican Space Agency (AEM) reported that it will strengthen the current space education agenda for our country, with emphasis on the protection of the population against natural disasters.

 

With information from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) of that country and NASA, the AEM explained that the GOES satellite system helps protect more than a billion people who live and They work in the Americas.

 

GOES-T, the newest member of this system, is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to strengthen the priority tasks of civil protection, and on which the training of young specialists from our country will be focused, in order to update their knowledge.

 

It should be noted that the AEM has already provided educational activities on this international cooperation satellite system “GOES”, co-organizing a series of practical workshops in order to have more tools for prevention, mitigation and timely response to emergencies and natural disasters.

 

Towards this goal, the general director of the AEM held meetings with officials and specialists at NASA facilities, anticipating that, after the launch of the satellite, educational activity may begin throughout this year, once the device begins to be fully operational in a few months.

 

It should be noted that the GOES-T technology has an advanced capacity to provide critical information in real time, before, during, and after possible disasters and severe phenomena, such as hurricanes and typhoons, hence the importance for space research and development after educational training. in these systems, he concluded.
